Helpful Tips

Clinic Office Hours: 7am-4pm M-F

  • If I do not have appointments scheduled for in the office, I may not be in the office. However, you can always reach me by phone, text, or email.
  • Additional options are possible for earlier or later appointments if needed.
  • Home visits are also available but may incur additional fees.

Getting in Touch

You may call or text me through either of these phone numbers:

  • Direct Patient Line: 704-610-0935
  • General Practice Line: 704-443-8530

Calling the Direct Patient Line is the easiest way to reach me directly, as it automatically documents the call in your medical record.

If I'm unable to answer, you may leave a message and I will get back to you as soon as possible. In case of an emergency, please call 911 or go to the emergency room or urgent care.

You may email me at melissa@drmelissaratliff.com.

Fax Number: 704-755-6528

Lab Results & Reporting

Please let me know at your visit if you would like labs to go through insurance or not. I have lower cash-pay pricing if you choose not to go through insurance. However, if you have met your deductible, it makes sense to use your insurance.

Lab reports from Labcorp may be accessed through your Labcorp account. I recommend scheduling a visit (phone, video, or in person) to review them personally. However, if you would rather me just make written comments, let me know.

For imaging, our main options are Atrium and Novant. We may be able to get cash pay prices if you pay at the time of service. For example, Novant offers a 40% discount if paid at time of service (please confirm this directly with them). Atrium and Novant results will appear in their respective patient portals and I am available to review them with you.

Another imaging option is Green Imaging. There is a location in Ballantyne. You may go visit their website to request a quote or appointment:

If you have labs or imaging, please make sure they have my fax number: 704-755-6528

Appointments

I recommend you schedule an initial 45 minute appointment with me within the first 2 weeks of joining.

At this visit, we will review your health history and medications. We will also discuss diet, exercise, sleep, sex, mood, stress, spirituality at the visit as time allows. I will also complete a brief examination.

We will create a plan for labs and follow up based on your individual needs. If you haven’t had an annual physical in the last year, I recommend that as the next visit.

I prefer you to have a visit with me every 3-6 months just to check in on how you are doing. This can be video, phone, in person, or just a quick email or text chat to make sure you are on a good track.

Appointment Types:

  • Initial Visit
  • Annual Physical
  • Quarterly/Biannual Wellness Visit
  • Sick Visit
  • Behavioral Health Visit

Medication Refills

At your first visit, I will review your medications and ask about the need for refills. Some medications may require labs before I take them over as your prescriber. Some meds may require a urine drug screen and a controlled substance contract. Please allow for this in your planning for refills.

After I prescribe your meds through Ratliff Integrative Family Medicine, the pharmacy will then have my information to request refills. For refills, contact the pharmacy and they will send me a message. You may do this through their app (e.g., CVS and Walgreens) or by calling them. You may also send a text message or email to me including name of medication, strength, dosing instructions, and number of days supply.

I will send the appropriate number of refills based on when you are next due to be seen or have labs done. Most often, I refill meds for a year. Refills on controlled substances are limited to either 5 day supply, monthly, every 3 months, or every 6 months, depending on the class of medication.

I send medications electronically; there is no option for paper scripts in the office.

Pharmacy Options

I have established a relationship with Austin Drugs in Indian Trail for discounted pricing and free delivery. If you are interested in getting a pricing estimate, let me know. They are a family owned business.

You may also consider using GoodRx for pricing medications.

For supplements, you may create a Fullscripts account and see my recommendations. Buying through them gives you a 10% discount on MSRP. Here is the link to my account.

Another option is Charlotte Vitamins and Health at the Arboretum in Charlotte.

I do not recommend purchasing supplements through Amazon since they can be stored at uncontrolled temperatures.

Medical Records

I will send a medical records release form for Novant and Atrium portals for me to access your records and then save to my electronic medical record only what is medically necessary.

If you have medical records at other practices, let me know and I’ll send a generic medical records release form for each office. You can complete a form for each office and I will fax it to them on your behalf.

If you have your records electronically, you may email them to me acknowledging the risk of privacy. You may also fax them to me.

Billing: You can view your bill in the patient portal
